20 years later, Alaska still poisoned from Exxon Valdex oil spill-2/2 Video
20 Years After Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, Alaskan Coastline Remains Contaminated, Residents Still Struggle for Justice
Today marks the twentieth anniversary of the Exxon Valdez oil spill, one of the worst environmental disasters in history. The Exxon Valdez spilled between 11 and 38 million gallons of crude oil into the fishing waters of Prince William Sound. The spill contaminated more than 1,200 miles of Alaskas shoreline and killed hundreds of thousands of seabirds and marine animals. It also dealt a staggering blow to the residents of local fishing towns, and the effects of the disaster are still being felt today. We speak with Riki Ott, a community activist, marine toxicologist, former commercial salmon fishermaam and author of two books on the spill. Her latest is Not One Drop: Betrayal and Courage in the Wake of the Exxon Valdez Spill. [includes rush transcript]

I just watched the rather humourous ;-]) report ...well done! ...are you the 'newscaster'? ...I'd love to see what you could do with the Enbridge pipeline proposal propaganda ...all of their YT videos ban comments ...after all if the pipeline goes through it will? affect the globe (the west coast of N.A.) even more than the Exxon Valdez has done

Enbridge is too ...in their Alberta/BC pipeline proposal

so true ... ...
so true ...absolutely spot on ...we? are dealing with the Enbridge Pipline proposal now ...I for one think that we must stop the pipline as well as the tar sands projects until the 'corporations' are held fully responsible for their actions ...absolutely accountable immediately upon incident
I agree ....the ' ...
I agree ....the 'corporate person' is outside of any human rights ...this is a key concept in getting to a sustainable solution ...we must remember that only people have human rights ...while corporations may be considered entities under law that? is where the 'human rights' end ...the Exxon case evidence is in... the enbridge pipline must be stopped NOW
thanks for sharing this revealing video

Thank you for posting.
At the root of corporate irresponsibility is Corporate Personhood (in the US) and limited liability for corporations. Corporations can do what they want because there is NO ONE to hold them accountable to the people, which, IMO, would be the most important responsibility of the Government.? It is the whole purpose of having a democratic government...a real one at least.
I can't think of a ...
I can't think of a single redeeming characteristic of G.W. Bush administration. But, it? is simply untrue that the BP crime would not have happened under another administration. Agreed, conservatives are worse, but both parties are OWNED by corporations.
Drill Baby Drill! ...
Drill Baby Drill! We should be building huge pipelines across the Bering Straits to sell our Alaskan oil to Russia as they are going to need it to fuel all the cars they're going to be buying from us in the future. That way? we maintain some leverage over them if/when they start acting up. It's called 'real politics'.?

Oh, but no worries, ...
Oh, but no worries, 'cause the mainstream media says that almost all of the oil has magically vanished! Thanks, Nature! But boy, those politico-pundits sure want to keep scaring us with that SCAAAAARY trace atmospheric gas, carbon dioxide, which plants need to grow...
Worry? about GLOBAL WARMING and TERRORISM-----while corporate giants wreck your environment & community. The oil just magically DISAPPEARED--no problem!!!
Now back to worrying about terrorists & CO2, you know, the REAL threats!

Its weird the way this interview ends, we? don't have the chance to hear Riki Ott's answer...
UM... Concerning ...
UM... Concerning the current BP Gulf Oil Spill... this is a product of the previous administration of whom "turned the other cheek" and looked the other way when BP was supposed to be submitting? a "disaster plan". Lets sell out today, lets sell out tomorrow all in the name of profits for right now... sorry but that is the "Republican" "Bush administration" mentality not Obama. We are left with your s**t on our hands. Get real!!! Our country has been ruined by the "Conservative mentality".
yes very?
yes very?
Let's see if Obama ...
Let's see if Obama and his CHANGE schtick will make BP clean up the Gulf of Mexico any better than Exxon did in AK. I remember my outrage when I saw those circus clowns hosing down? rocks on the beach and calling it 'cleanup'. What a joke- that didn't clean anything! BP is dragging their feet in paying claims now- what makes anybody think that this will be different than Valdez? BP is criminal in their lax practices. I hope they go broke cleaning up every single drop of oil. It's an OUTRAGE!

matteroftrustorg ...
matteroftrustorg can explain it better than i......a website than is helping to clean the oil spill in sanfransisco, ca?
why cant this ...
why cant this community use human / animal hair mats and oyster mushrooms to clean this ? the mushrooms turn the oils' molecules into carbohydrates / fungal sugars, that make up the mushroom's physical structures ( which are edible ) and harmless natural fertilizer.... i cant get to alaska , but i hope? this helps !!!!
We have to ...
We have to understand what we're dealing with here...
They are a blood-sucking parasite that will never quench its thirst. They are willing? to go to any length to make profit. Don't kid yourself, this is not about fueling the worlds economies or having transportation for the world, this is about cash-in-pocket profit. We are being extorted for our own natural resource.
Will Exxon save the world when the time comes? Sure, but they'll charge us for it and they'll make a killing.
Wow i did'nt really ...
Wow i did'nt really understand what Ralph Nader was saying when he kept talking about corporate personhood but now its so obvious, of course in all capitalist country's politicians are most likely to spear and ear to some fat cat than to an ordinary person because its the nature of the beast? until its to late like now with the banks etc
